From Tenancingo we drove on to Malinalco, another of Mexico State’s Pueblos Magicos. There we enjoyed a nieve (sherbet – Malinalco is famous for them) but first Manuel, Lois, and Don climbed up (more than 400 steps) to the archeological site Cuauhcalli, dating from about 1500. When the Aztecs conquered the local groups, this is what they built. It is a site for initiations of warriors in the Eagles and Tigers orders of the ancient Mexica army.
