Mariposa Weekend 5: Metepec
We finished our tour of Toluca with a visit to Metepec, an adjoining town with a lot of ceramic artisans. Manuel and Alejandra and Victor showed us the highlights. One of the characteristic works by Metepec artisans is the "Arbol de la Vida". We saw some superb examples in the shops and workshops. Lois bought a small one from the artist who had made it. Look at the album cover of the Beatles' 1967 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' for another example of a Metepec Tree of Life.
And finally, Manuel and Alejandra took us to the bus station for our bus back to Querétaro. We exchanged contact information, and invitations to visit each other. We arrived back at our Querétaro house tired but very happy.
