Since we were in Querétaro in 2011, the entire area along the south bank of the Rio Querétaro has been enhanced with beautiful landscaping, with pools and fountains. During our last week in Querétaro in 2012, we explored this area and enjoyed it immensely. The very shallow (<2 inches) pools with fountains are included in layouts that also feature night lighting – especially on the fountains that spring right out of the walkway. Each of those individual fountains, isolated in the walkway, has its own 300 gallon tank of water that is recycled. There are more elaborate elements at major intersections, particularly the esplanade that displays the equestrian statue of Ignacio Perez. But the kilometer or so of walkway along the river with the flower beds and shallow fountains are especially relaxing, satisfying, and beautiful. Scroll down for photos and a video of this beautiful spot.
