From El Oro, we stopped by the Presa Brockman, a reservoir very near El Oro that offers quiet recreation and scenic residences.

And then we continued just across the state line into Michoacan, to visit the Pueblo Magico Tlalpujahua. Our first stop here, though, was in another village, San Juan Tlalpujahuilla, where a most amazing church was built in the 1930s, the Santuario de Nuestra Señora de San Juan de los Lagos. The region is noted for the cantera (stone) and stoneworkers. Clearly they were inspired to create this amazing church.

As we approached the entrance to the church, we encountered this girl in her beautiful dress. Lois asked and was given permission to photograph her and her family. Alejandra explained that they were celebrating her birthday, coming to the church to give thanks for her reaching the age of three. A tradition in the pueblos.
