Wed. 10/31: We went out to run around the central garden of Napier early. Had breakfast, said our goodbyes, and Cheridah took us to the airport , arriving at 9 AM for a 9:45 flight to Wellington. At 10:45 we were picked up at the airport in Wellington and taken to the summit of Mt. Victoria for an overview of the harbour and the city. Very windy, overcast. Took cablecar to vantage point in Kelburn, overlooking Botanical Gardens and the city. Lunch at Skyline Restaurant. Coach to Parliament Buildings (very interesting, especially the earthquake prevention measures taken). Raining hard (so no photos -- found this one on the net). Saw Parliament in action -- ahem! Visited Old St. Paul's Church (Gothic architecture, now used by all faiths). Back to airport for a 5:30 flight to Christchurch. Settled into YMCA Conference Center after having supper on the plane.
