| Elderhostel Alaska Whales & Eagles - Haines

Continuing our Haines tours, we visited Fort Seward and the Alaskan Indian Arts center where master artist Wayne Price (and his son) demonstrated their work. We had a superb Dungeness Crab dinner at the Fort Seward Lodge. Lois attended the eagle release ceremony back at the Preserve that afternoon -- a very moving ritual, especially where it included the participation of a handicapped boy (those two photos were kindly provided by the Foundation people -- I took photos of their prints). We were very comfortable in the Captain's Cove, near the Haines boat harbor. We learned a lot from the experts who gave presentations at the Eagle Foundation -- especially Bob Armstrong, who is the author of the Guide to the Birds of Alaska.
